About Me

I’m Mia Atteberry, freelance writer and editor with a passion for helping others convey their stories and interests through intentional words and tailored rhetoric.

I write to make art, and I edit to refine someone else’s creation.

Our world exists in words–from advertisements and social media posts to libraries and snail mail. My desire is for the words of our world to carry purpose. Whether your purpose is to inspire, to comfort, to inform, to persuade, or to proclaim, even small fine-tuning brings writing to the next level so that your aim can be accomplished.

I graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing. With a background in nonprofit development, I’ve also completed many courses and workshops covering marketing strategies, establishing business core values, and grant writing. My education is ongoing–continuing to glean from webinars, online courses, newsletters, and podcasts, as well as staying up to date on the latest style guides for grammar and writing.

My services, designed to help you or your business’s story be told with excellence, include ghostwriting, developmental editing, copyediting, content writing, and proofreading. I specialize in memoirs, poetry, food writing, religious nonfiction, and Christian devotionals.

If you are wanting your work to reach that next level–be it more depth, stronger connection, or greater audience receptivity, I’m here to help.

The goal of my craft and process is to offer not only fresh eyes, but also to be a client’s second pair of eyes, so the writing enables the reader to see the world through the author’s lens. No matter how messy the draft, the mismatched themes you want to convey, or the plethora of thoughts for which you simply can’t find the right words, you have come to the right place.

Collaboration is my greatest value in my work. I count my mission to help others share the words and stories in their heart as a gift. Each project is about the client and their reader: their story, the hope they can offer, and the desired impact on their audience. I seek to help clients navigate both the emotional architecture of their piece and line-level clarity. Through collaborative edits, my priority is respecting and preserving a client’s voice throughout. My vision is that each finished project offers authenticity, resonance, and excellence.

When I’m not writing, I could spend my days simply walking—through city streets, quiet paths, or along a neighborhood sidewalk—soaking in the rhythms of life. I also love cooking: transforming humble ingredients into edible art. These simple practices feed my imagination and deepen my connection to my work.

I have traveled much—from the coast-side streets of Slovenia and the small towns of Spain to the hidden cenotes of Mexico—and hope to travel more, but nothing gives me more life than home. I hope to bring that sense of home into writing projects, collaborative meetings, and the stories I tell.

If you are on a journey to tell your story, I’d love to be your guide along the way.

Let’s chat.
